Local groups
The purpose of local groups is to provide mutual support for those who are actively involved in politics, rather than being a safe replacement for meaningful involvement. People can be politically involved in many ways: as candidates, as intercessors, as administrators, as pastors, as design experts, as practical helpers – the list goes on!
Working in conjunction with networks like Gather UK, Cinnamon Network, and Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, Christians involved in politics are getting together all over the UK.
There are often not enough politically active folks in one congregation to form the critical mass for a group, but across a town, there usually are!
These groups tend to be more sustainable if organised under the aegis of these Churches Together groups (across the country the groups have many different names, like ‘Transform Southwark (politics)’, then increasingly some groups are also becoming official Christians in Politics groups, as you can see below.
If you would be interested in transitioning your pre-existing group or starting a new one, please check out our resources below. We can provide lots of resources, training, networking and support.
If you have any questions, or would like to chat through the next steps of starting a group, please get in touch at localgroups@christiansinpolitics.org.uk. If you’re interested in joining a group, you can find CiPol local groups that have formed on the map, along with contact details for the group coordinator.
